Engine repair/overhaul is a big frustration to car owners. Not everything that fails in your engine is a big headache and with periodic inspections we can keep ahead of major issues.

We run tests and diagnostics to help determine where the trouble lies. A compression test tells us if your engine has good compression, or a burned-out valve. An engine is essentially a self-powered air pump, so it needs good compression to run efficiently, cleanly and to start easily.

A leak down or “cylinder leakage” test is similar to a compression test but instead of measuring pressure, it measures pressure loss.

A head gasket is costly to replace and often is the result of an underlying problem. A blown gasket causes a drastic drop in power that is hard to ignore. The engine may still run, but very poorly.
